Back in my room after A Day at a Trade Fair or rather I should call it my worse day at the trade fair, I was sure about not stepping into one more trade fair ever again in my life and rest back on the best surrounded with pamphlets from the trade fair.

As I slowly drift into sleep I am awaken by the door bell it is my friend who stays with me. My friend  invites me to a trade fair calling it the best ever event of its kind. I detest instantly and come up with lame excuses, however they serve no purpose and soon I am all set to leave and this time I think if i should travel in a truck to bring in all those “valuable” brochures back with me.

After checking out the numerous ads and peer review about the trade show being a must attend I manage to work out my schedule to attend the trade fair hoping it would be a learning experience and reach the venue. The venue was clean, the organizers are friendly, and food was good, but overall I was under impressed by event as a whole.

Blue, Pink, Green, and Yellow colored papers adorn the floor and camouflage the underlying red carpet at the exhibition as I walk past the stalls with gazing exhibitors trying hard to thrust their colored papers (sales collaterals) into every visitor’s hand.

I dodge glances and avoid getting close to the stalls for the fear of brochures and pamphlets being thrust into my hand by the excited stall owners. Although, placed in an up market serene environment, with people cad in their best Armani and Gucci the place bears an uncanny resemblance to the pike place fish market with mongers throwing away fishes to people.

Prying  for attention of the attendees the exhibitors seem to be keener on thrusting their brochures in every visitor’s hand rather than knowing about what interests me as a visitor. A golden pot of opportunity was being ignored or ill-treated I should say as the expo had the who’s who in attendance. Yet, it lacked the spirit of a changed and charged environment of entrepreneurship as the exhibitors acted as mere hawkers.

The stalls seem no different they all seem to be the “best in the market” offering the most “unique” services. Tired, irritated and confused I walk out of the trade show with a bag full of brochures that could easily be mistaken for my monthly grocery shopping bag.
